Where can I find the DC’s Next Top Threat Model?

If you are attending DEF CON in-person you can find us on the Contest floor in Caesars Forum.

We will also be available online on DEF CON’s discord server within the #ce-next-top-threat-model channel under the Contest & Events subsection.

What are DC’s Next Top Threat Model’s operating hours?

Registration opens Friday at 10AM PDT. Submissions are due by Saturday at 6PM PDT so results can be reviewed overnight and winners provided to the DEF CON Contest & Events team on Sunday.

Below are the hours for the DCNTTM onsite, where someone will be available at the Contest Tables to answer any questions. We may respond to emails sent to defcon@threatmodel.us and to questions posted to the #ce-next-top-threat-model channel on the DEF CON Discord during the following hours.

  • FRIDAY: 10am to 6pm PDT
  • SATURDAY: 10am to 6pm PDT
  • SUNDAY: Contest Closed

Discord will be left open outside these regular hours. The contest team will respond to questions on a best-effort basis outside of the hours above.

Do I have to be on the Contest floor to participate?

NO! Once you register and have the design artifacts you can “play” from anywhere you’d like! Just make sure you submit your findings by Saturday, August 12th, no later than 6PM PDT.

Can I compete if I’m not physically at DEF CON?

YES! Once you register and have the design artifacts you can “play” from anywhere you’d like! Just make sure you submit your findings by Saturday, August 12th, no later than 6PM PDT.

Where is the leaderboard?

There is no leaderboard. Any submissions will only be reviewed starting Saturday, August 12th, after 6PM PDT, so a leaderboard beforehand does not make sense. While judges commit to reviewing all submissions to determine winners, we may (or may not) publish a ranking of all submissions.
